Tottenham to agree takeover deal? Stefan Borson drops verdict after new arrival

Daniel Levy remains a largely unpopular figure among the Tottenham faithful after questions have been asked about the club’s lack of spending.

It has been widely reported Levy is open to selling a minority stake in the club at a valuation of £3.75billion.

Spurs have confirmed the appointment of Vinai Venkatesham, who will take up the role of CEO at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The experienced chief previously spent four years working as Arsenal’s CEO between 2020 and 2024.

Following the appointment, Levy said: “I have known Vinai for many years, having worked together in the Premier League and the ECA [European Club Association]. I am personally delighted that he has agreed to join our board as we build for success.”

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Venkatesham’s arrival is unlikely to be linked to any potential takeover deal.

Qatari investors have been linked with a Tottenham takeover, but a deal is yet to be agreed with any interested parties.

Daniel Levy has agreed new Tottenham hire

Borson insisted a new owner would likely prefer to bring in their own CEO at Tottenham as opposed to someone appointed by Levy.

He told Football Insider: “I think it’s unlikely to be linked to a takeover because you would have thought that if this was part of a corporate deal, why has it not been announced?

“Secondly, you would have thought that actually a new ownership, either a big minority or a new majority owner, you would have thought that they would want to bring in their own person.

“Whereas, this appears to be a hire made by Daniel Levy and the existing ownership. Somebody they know, somebody they’ve worked with before.

“It seems to me that it’s not to do with the deal, but it’s by no means clear.

“There is no sign that it is. There are no ripples, there’s no noise.

“We know that they’ve been trying to find this for a very long time, but so far, they haven’t found that backer or that minority holder.”

Bournemouth make move to stop Andoni Iraola joining Tottenham

Football Insider revealed on 18 April Andoni Iraola has been offered a new Bournemouh contract as they look to prevent him from joining Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou is on borrowed time at Spurs despite reaching the Europa League semi-finals this season, where they will face Bodo/Glimt across two legs.

Tottenham currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, while Bournemouth are eighth following their strong campaign under Iraola.
