‘Tottenham to beat Arsenal and Liverpool to statement signing – they’ve started talks’
Tottenham are well placed to beat arch-rivals Arsenal and Premier League champions Liverpool to a statement signing.
The North London side are coming off the back of a terrible domestic season, in which they finished a lowly 17th in the top-flight.
However, new manager Thomas Frank is already stamping his authority on the Spurs squad as he looks to turn fortunes around, bringing in Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.
Now, Tottenham have joined the race for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, a player who has attracted interest from both Arsenal and Liverpool already this summer.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has revealed that Spurs are already in talks with Los Blancos over a potential deal.

‘Tottenham have the funds to buy Rodrygo’
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Tottenham have the financial firepower to complete a move for Rodrygo.
Real Madrid were demanding £85million for the Brazilian at the start of the window, but have now reportedly dropped their asking price to around £70m.
Wyness added that it would be a “statement” signing for Spurs, and would get everybody in the fanbase excited.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I’ve got a funny feeling could happen. I know that Spurs have got the ability to do it cash-wise.
“This would be a real statement signing for Spurs. I know that they’ve actually started talks with Real Madrid. I don’t know how far they’ve gone, but I know there’s certainly been discussions.
“I sold a player to Real Madrid quite a long time ago, and they’re actually very easy to deal with in terms of negotiations, at least that’s what I found. They’ll have already had three or four replacements for Rodrygo in their mind. He does seem to have fallen out of favor.
“I think it could be a time where they want to maximise their valuation and spend it on new talent and refresh their squad. So there’s a chance of getting this done, and Daniel could be down there trying to get something happening.
“I think it’d be great for Spurs. I’d love to see him in the Premier League. I think with Thomas Frank as well, he’d be a great manager for him.
“The whole Spurs project is interesting. After a shaky season, I think we’re going to see a resurgence of Spurs coming back. I’m a big fan of Frank’s and how he’s going to approach things. Rodrygo would be something that would get everybody excited at the Tottenham fan base, and I think there’s a better than fair chance it could get done.”

‘Tottenham eye Jack Grealish deal’
Meanwhile, Tottenham have reportedly set their sights on a deal to sign Jack Grealish after missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White.
That is according to their former scout Mick Brown, who claims that the 29-year-old has moved up the list of targets for Thomas Frank.
Spurs are aiming to add a new attacking midfield option to their squad, but the England international’s ability to play out wide is seen as a valuable asset.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 22 May that Grealish does not expect to remain at City and feels he has been “frozen out” by Guardiola.
