‘Tottenham to bite Man City’s hand off for £40m Jack Grealish deal’

Tottenham have been tipped to sign Jack Grealish in a deal for a major discount from Man City this summer.

It has been a hugely difficult season for Pep Guardiola‘s side who surrendered their Premier League title to Liverpool on their way to ending the season without a major trophy.

One player who struggled in particular was Grealish, with the winger starting just seven league games across the course of the campaign.

As a result, Football Insider recently reported that Grealish feels he has been frozen out at Man City by Guardiola, and does not expect to be at the club next season.

Jamie O’Hara wants Jack Grealish at Europa League winners

Earlier this season, there were claims that a number of top clubs will queue to sign Grealish if he leaves Man City, and there appears to be a belief that Spurs ought to be one of them.

Speaking on talkSPORT about the situation surrounding Grealish, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara claimed he would love to see the winger in North London.

In response, Jason Cundy suggested Man City could sell the 29-year-old for a lot less than they paid for him, as they look to overhaul their squad to bounce back from such a disappointing campaign.

While speaking about the finances around a move for the England international, the ex-Chelsea star claimed: “It’s [the rebuild] not just for this season it’s for next and the season after that.

“So you’re talking another two or three seasons. If he not part of that they might as cut ties now and say ‘thanks move on’.

“They paid £100million for him, you could probably pick him up for £40[million]? £45[million].”

Reacting to the suggestions around those figures, Spurs fan O’Hara declared: “I’d have him. £40million? I’d bite your hand off for that!”

Football Insider Verdict

Given the struggles for form and fitness that Son Heung-min has endured over the course of this season, it would seem to make sense for Spurs to make a move for Grealish if a feasible agreement can be reached.

Such a deal would allow secure them a strong alternative attacking midfield option, and one who has proven he can play an important role in a side chasing trophies.

If manager Ange Postecoglou was to remain at Tottenham, his style of play could also bring more out of the 29-year-old than has been seen recently at Man City.

That is something that could appeal to Grealish, and there may be other benefits to this move for him too.

After Tottenham beat Man United in the Europa League last week, they will be playing in the Champions League from next season.

As a result, a move to Spurs could be a tempting one for Grealish, given the opportunity to turn his career around at the top level it could provide him with.
