Tottenham to block Thomas Frank’s plans to’ overhaul squad’ as ‘doubts’ intensify
Thomas Frank is eyeing a potential overhaul of his Tottenham squad in the upcoming transfer windows amid frustrations about his available options.
That is according to former Tottenham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Frank is planning to strengthen in a number of positions across his squad.
Frank’s side lost 5-3 to PSG last time out, coming off the back of a 4-1 defeat against Arsenal, highlighting key weaknesses in major areas of the side.
However, there are doubts about whether Tottenham will be prepared to give him the backing he desires when the January transfer window opens.
While the club remains in a strong financial position, the extend of their willingness to spend has been questioned following a frustrating summer window.

Tottenham weigh up squad overhaul under Thomas Frank
Football Insider revealed on 25 November that Tottenham want to sign a striker and a winger in January as priority positions to strengthen Frank’s starting XI.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the boss is set to push for further investment despite doubts over his own position.
“Thomas Frank would like to make major changes to his squad,” he told Football Insider.
“There are a few positions at Tottenham where the options they’ve got available are not quite good enough for where they want to be long-term.
“Plus, with any new manager, he’s going to want players who suit the way he wants to play.
“I think he’ll be swimming against the tide in that regard though, I don’t think they’re making any plans to spend big at the moment.
“I’m sure they’ll do some business in key positions, but if he’s hoping for ins and outs all over the pitch, he’ll be waiting a long time before that happens.
“Especially when you consider he will want to bring players in for this more defensive and pragmatic system he plays, which there are already doubts about.
“So it would come as a surprise to me if they decided overhauling the squad was the best way to go, even if that’s what the manager is looking to do.”
Tottenham’s stance on sacking Frank revealed
Following heavy defeats to both Arsenal and PSG, and a frustrating run of recent form, Frank is facing increasing pressure on his position as Spurs manager.
Brown told Football Insider earlier this month that Tottenham fans have turned on Frank, in what is seen as a bad sign for his future at the club.
However, Football Insider revealed on 13 November that Frank has the backing of the Tottenham board despite some early questions about his position.

Football Insider revealed on 11 November that Tottenham are confident over Frank and believe he will turn around their poor form before too long.
The club are keen to remain patient and allow the boss to get his ideas across, having only been in the position for a matter of months since arriving in the summer.
