‘Tottenham to make Son decision amid major Bryan Mbeumo development’
Tottenham are set to make a huge Heung-min Son transfer decision this summer if Bryan Mbeumo chooses to join the North London club with Thomas Frank.
Spurs’ season ended on a high note last month as they won the Europa League against Manchester United, but their glory did not save Ange Postecoglou’s job following a dismal league campaign.
Spurs made their official announcement of the Australian’s departure on 6 June following “a review of performances and after significant reflection,” and Brentford boss Frank is in pole position to land the vacant role, following a recent report by Football Insider.
Frank is surely set to take over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium soon, and he will have a number of key decisions to make regarding transfers this summer if he is placed in charge.
One of those will be on the future of Son, who struggled to make an impact for Spurs last season, and the potential for Bees forward Mbeumo to follow his Danish boss to North London could see the South Korean legend allowed to depart the club.

Tottenham could choose to cash in on Heung-min Son
Spurs are expected to make an official approach for Frank’s services in the coming week [The Mail], and the stellar job that he has done with the Bees since their 2021 promotion has largely been headed by Cameroon international Mbeumo.
The versatile forward netted nine Premier League goals in both the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, and recently enjoyed his best term yet with 20 strikes and eight assists in 38 appearances
His standout form has seen Football Insider report that the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle and United are all keen to sign him, and the Red Devils have been claimed to be at the front of the queue for his signature following a recent £55m [The Telegraph] bid which was rejected by Brentford.
New reports have now claimed that Spurs are looking to capture the 25-year-old this summer, with The Mirror revealing that Frank has told the club’s chiefs that he wants them to rival United for Mbeumo’s signature if he agrees to take over as head-coach.
They state that ‘the pull of Champions League football and Frank’ could sway the attacker’s decision to join Spurs alongside his Bees boss, and so that would surely leave the North London club open to a sale of their legendary winger Son, who has struggled for form and been linked away in recent weeks.

Son has Saudi suitors who could look to sign him this summer
Son’s impact has clearly lessened over the last year or so at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and at 32-years-old, it feels unlikely that he is set to improve much further due to his reliance on his pace and power throughout his career.
Football Insider recently reported that Tottenham want to keep the South Korean international for next season, but they may well be tempted by new developments from abroad that could see them receive a sizeable bid for his services soon.
According to a report from The Times (3 June), numerous Saudi Pro League clubs have reignited their interest in Son, with him having been on their radar for the last two years.
Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists |
46 | 37 | 11 | 12 |
The star forward is also said to “command a premium” for Saudi sides, though, due to Asian Champions League rules stipulating that one of the six permitted foreign players must be from another country within the continent, and convincing him to move there is apparently another hurdle that Spurs are set to face if they are offered a big fee and are happy to let him leave.
With that said, if Mbeumo joins alongside potential new boss Frank this summer, then the club are set to be much less reliant on the South Korean’s talents, and so could allow him to depart for a slightly lower fee because they will likely want his high wages off their books.
