‘Tottenham to still sack Ange Postecoglou even with Europa League title win’
Ange Postecoglou could still be sacked by Daniel Levy this summer even if Tottenham are to win the Europa League title, Simon Jordan has suggested.
Spurs were dealt yet another blow this season during a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Sunday 9 March, even with Tottenham returns for star duo Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
Goals from Pape Sarr and Son Heung-min meant that only two points were dropped, rather than three for the 15th time this season, but sitting 13th in the Premier League table leaves the Lilywhites with little to fight for.
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa and the EFL Cup by Liverpool, winning the Europa League is Postecoglou’s only chance of bringing Champions League football to North London next season.
However, even if Spurs are to beat Man United, Roma and Lazio to the title, Jordan does not believe this would be enough to cement Postecoglou’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou facing sack pressure at Tottenham
Jim White, speaking on talkSPORT [10 March, 11:49am], asked if Postecoglou could be sacked if Spurs are without Champions League football next season, to which Jordan said: “I would think so. Yes, I think so.
“Tottenham have been ineffective this season but the argument is constantly about the playing squad and its injuries. It has cogency, I’ve seen them losing when they’ve got a fully loaded squad and when they’ve lost to teams they should beat with a depleted squad.
“I don’t want any manager to be sacked or talk about the sack race, but if he finishes 13th in the league and doesn’t win anything – winning the Europa League might not even be enough justification, but it might help his cause.
“If they don’t win the Europa League and finish 13th in the Premier League, it will be a difficult argument to make in some people’s minds as to whether Postecoglou keeps his job.”

Daniel Levy to begin search for new Tottenham manager
Football Insider verdict
Mick Brown has told Football Insider that Postecoglou could have just weeks to save himself at Tottenham, especially if the current trend of results continues.
Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola have already been named as potential replacements to replace Postecoglou at Tottenham, both of whom are having brighter seasons at their respective clubs.
Premier League standings | Points |
8. Bournemouth | 44 |
12. Brentford | 38 |
13. Tottenham | 34 |
14. Man United | 34 |
One of the most frustrating parts of the current manager’s style of football is his stubbornness when it comes to changing and adapting, even when many of the big stars are sidelined.
Spurs have proven they can secure unlikely victories, having beaten Man City, Liverpool and Aston Villa this season, but with losses to Ipswich, Everton and Leicester City, there is never any consistency.
Unless Postecoglou can prove himself in the final few weeks of the campaign, it could be a short spell in North London for the manager.
