Tottenham to welcome new arrival after deal agreed – ‘I know this morning he’s heading in’

Tottenham are set to appoint a new director of football operations to support manager Thomas Frank.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes “stability is crucial” for Spurs.

Spurs are backing Frank despite unrest from supporters over the club’s current form and performances.

Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 win over Spurs last time out leaves the north London club 11th in the Premier League table, and six points off the top four.

Spurs have ‘got to do a lot better’ than 17th place finish

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that Man City executive Carlos Raphael Moersen is joining Spurs.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks this is a “building season” for the club.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I also know this morning there’s apparently Carlos Raphael Moersen from the City Football Group coming in as their Director of Football Operations. So another new face coming in.

“So another one that Frank has got to learn and work with and stability is crucial. Spurs are going to treat this season, well, obviously they’ve got to do better than last season when they finished 17th. They’ve got to do a lot better than that.

But if you can get them mid-table, this has got to be considered a building season. And then I think the pressure will be on him next year, and I think that would be fair.”

Tottenham set to offload Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma has no future at Spurs, and the club want to offload the midfielder in the January transfer window.

Bissouma has not been favoured by Frank due to discipline issues, whilst the 29-year-old has also suffered from injury problems.

Spurs have the option to trigger a one-year extension on Bissouma’s contract should they be unable to sell him in January.
