Tottenham told to forget Tammy Abraham and sign 25-year-old after journalist’s talks update – pundit

Tottenham should sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin if Harry Kane departs this summer, according to Paul Robinson.

The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Calvert-Lewin, 25, would be a better option than AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham, 24.

The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell claimed (28 March) that super agent Jorge Mendes is scouring Europe for potential replacements for Harry Kane.

Tottenham’s talismanic striker’s future is once again in doubt amid interest from Man United.

Mendes is said to have held talks over Roma’s Tammy Abraham and Benfica’s Darwin Nunez.

However, Robinson believes Calvert-Lewin would be a better and cheaper option for Antonio Conte’s side.

“I wouldn’t mind seeing Calvert-Lewin there,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He is a great striker. Yes, he’s had a poor season at Everton but the season before he scored a lot of goals.

“The type of money you could get him away from Everton for it would be a decent fit. Is Abraham in the same bracket? I’m not sure.

“To replace Harry Kane you have to go in at the top level. Conte is there to make this team competitive in the top four. They will not do that by selling players and replacing them with lesser players.”

Calvert-Lewin has contributed three goals and one assist in 10 Premier League appearances this season.

His contract at Goodison Park runs until the summer 2025.
