Tottenham told to ‘get rid’ of Tanguy Ndombele this summer – ‘they’ve had enough,’ says expert
Alan Hutton has claimed Tottenham need to “get rid” of Tanguy Ndombele this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs right-back suggested the new manager could help revitalise Ndombele’s career but suggested the club may need to just “cut their losses” at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Napoli but has struggled to make a mark on a side that have just one their first Serie A title in 33 years.
The midfielder has scored just once in 30 league appearances for the Italian side this season and started just eight of those matches.
On 29 April, Football Insider revealed that the Lilywhites have held discussions about terminating Ndombele’s contract two years before its expiry date.
The centre-mid joined Spurs for a reported fee of £55.5million back in 2022 and is earning £200,000 per week in north London.
When asked if Tottenham will attempt to sell Ndombele in the summer, Hutton told Football Insider: “It just depends on what is going on in the background, what has been said, if they have had enough.
“It has been really expensive, let’s not kid ourselves. From the wages to the fee, they are not going to get anywhere near that back.
“Of course you would try and sell him but at some stage they might need to cut their losses and get him off the books, just get rid.
“Is it worth bringing him back for pre-season to upset the camp when you are trying to move it forward with a new manager.

“That being said, what if someone comes in i.e. a new manager, likes the player, can get the best out of him and he turns it round?
“It has been done before. You do not quite know. But first and foremost they need to get a manager in who can make that decision.“
