Tottenham told to reject offer for ‘world-class’ Dele Alli after source’s reveal – pundit

Frank McAvennie has told Tottenham not to accept an offer for Dele Alli to leave the club permanently in January.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the midfielder could make Spurs look “daft” by leaving and thriving elsewhere.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club are willing to let Alli, 25, leave during the January window as he does not feature in manager Antonio Conte’s plans.

Spurs would consider, loan, loan-to-buy or permanent transfer options.

McAvennie claims Tottenham can’t allow Alli to leave permanently as he still has the ability to be “world-class”.

“Alli is pure, sheer, talent,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I honestly think all he needs is one move away. A chance of scenery can work wonders.

“If I was Tottenham I would not be hasty to sell him. Don’t accept an offer. Get him a loan deal somewhere where he can be the main man.

“That’s what he needs. It’s like Lingard. He needed to be loved again. He got that at West Ham and I think he would have carried that form on if he was actually playing this season.

“You have seen it so many times with these kinds of players. Alli was tipped to be world-class.

“He could be world-class still, I’m sure of it. If he leaves permanently in January then starts scoring again, Tottenham look daft.

“It wouldn’t be the first time Tottenham have done that. That’s just my own view.

“I firmly believe we will see the best of Dele Alli again.”
