Tottenham told to sack Ange Postecoglou ‘now’ after shock claim – Fans react
Tottenham fans are calling for the club to sack Ange Postecoglou despite their Carabao Cup victory against Coventry City on 18 September.
Postecoglou’s side pulled off a comeback victory to win 2-1 away from home against their Championship opponents thanks to late goals from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson.
However, fans are growing impatient with their manager, having come so close to a shock defeat in the cup if not for the late fightback.
It was the manner of the performance rather than the end result which frustrated the travelling supporters. Despite holding 70 per cent of the possession, Coventry had 15 shots to Spurs’ nine and had the better of the game.
Coming off the back of a 1-0 defeat in the North London derby, supporters had hoped for a huge bounce-back victory, but were less than impressed.
The boss, meanwhile, shared in their sentiments following the game, telling HaytersTV: “No [I don’t think we were the better side]. If you need clarification, I said we hung in there.
“That suggests we just dug deep to stay in the game. We didn’t dominate it.
“I don’t fall into ‘Lucky or unlucky’, because if we were lucky today it probably means we were unlucky in over games, but who cares? It doesn’t matter. We found a way to win tonight.”
Speaking to Sky Sports, meanwhile, he shared: “We did make a lot of changes, but that’s on me. We weren’t as fluent, but most of that’s down to Coventry. They played with high energy and we had to hang in there.
“I don’t think there’s an easy or quick fix to where we want to get to. I feel like, this year, our performances have been good but we’ve lacked that bit of an edge. Hopefully, tonight will give the boys a bit of belief.”
However, for many, the excuses and admissions from the boss are proving too little, too late.
Tottenham fans losing patience with Ange Postecoglou after win v Coventry
Postecoglou has gained a reputation for his frankness and honesty in the press, but fans are growing tired of his comments and are demanding improvements on the pitch.
Tottenham have now won five of their last 14 competitive games across all competitions amid growing pressure on the manager’s position.
Following the frustrating game against Coventry, despite their victory, many have begun calling for the boss’ head as they labelled him “embarrassing” and “awful”.
In other news, fans were left raging at Guglielmo Vicario after what Gary Neville said.
