Cristian Romero’s ‘head not in the right place’ as Tottenham news confirmed – Robinson
Paul Robinson has claimed “there is no point” in Tottenham rushing Cristian Romero back from Argentina.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 24-year-old should be given time to enjoy his World Cup success with his friends and family.
Romero starred for Argentina at the World Cup, helping them beat France in the final.
Speaking to Argentinian outlet La Voz (20 December), the defender’s father Victor Romero revealed Spurs already want their player back in London.
Robinson is adamant Antonio Conte and his staff are taking the wrong approach.
“There is no point in trying to rush him back,” he told Football Insider.
“If you look at the scenes in Argentina, those players are going to partying for a few days.
“Romero’s head is not going to be in the right place. Conte would gain nothing by pulling him out of that situation. You have to let him enjoy it. You have to give him time. It is a once in a lifetime experience. You have to be realistic.
“I don’t suspect Romero has slept much in the last few nights. The party is going to continue for days and weeks. Spurs are better off letting have that time off with his friends and family.

“It would not suit anybody to rush him back. He would not be in the right frame of mind to play.
“Romero was exceptional at the World Cup and Spurs miss him when he’s not available. They have to bring him back at the right time though.”
