Tottenham told what scouts are telling them about Christian Pulisic will be spot-on
Tottenham have been warned against pursuing a move for AC Milan star Christian Pulisic after he emerged as one of their key targets for the summer.
Spurs are among the clubs set to keep a close eye on the 27-year-old at the World Cup, where he will represent the host nation USA in hopes of a strong tournament.
However, they have been urged to make a decision based on his performances in Serie A where he has scored eight goals in 18 appearances, rather than for the USA.
Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Pulisic having a strong tournament in the summer should not be the difference-maker for watching clubs.
The winger has struggled to make an impact at Milan so far this season, having started just ten league games, which could be a concern for the likes of Spurs.

Tottenham told whether to pursue Christian Pulisic
Football Insider revealed on 17 February that Tottenham and Arsenal are both interested in Pulisic, but Milan are unlikely to entertain offers for him this summer.
A strong run at the World Cup is expected to boost the interest from watching Premier League clubs, but they are now being warned against that way of thinking.
“Clubs are always watching different players at the World Cup,” Brown told Football Insider.
“If there’s a player you’re interested in, Pulisic in this case for Tottenham, you want to see how he’s going to get on with his country and if he steps up.
“The problem is, and this is a golden rule for me, you cannot sign players purely off the back of them having a strong World Cup, Euros, whatever tournament it is.
“All too often, you’ll see players will step up their performance over four or five games on the biggest stage, but afterwards they go back to their normal level.
“So you get clubs jumping in, ‘He’s had a good World Cup, let’s get him before somebody else does’, and then it turns out you’re not getting the player you thought you might be.
“Tottenham shouldn’t be signing Pulisic based on what they see at the World Cup. If they want him, it should be based on his performances for AC Milan.
“Their scouts have been keeping a close eye on him so they’ll know what his usual levels are, so even if he has a strong World Cup, it can’t just be based on that.”
Everton set sights on new attacking midfield options
Amid Spurs’ interest in Pulisic, it has become clear that a new winger or attacking midfielder has risen to the top of their list of targets this summer.
Injuries to the likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski have highlighted the weaknesses in Spurs’ squad depth and contributed to a difficult season.
As a result, Football Insider revealed on 17 February that Tottenham are interested in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and could prise him away from Everton this summer.

However, David Moyes’ side are extremely reluctant to lose any of their key players and plan to turn down any offers for the 27-year-old.
The Toffees have a desire to kick on at the end of the campaign and plan to improve on their current squad rather than risking weakening it.
