Tottenham transfer news: Expert shares Harry Winks claim after ‘telling’ new development

Harry Winks may have played his last game for Tottenham after failing to make it onto the pitch against West Ham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Winks, 26, was not chosen to come on off the bench as Tottenham beat West Ham 3-1 on Sunday (20 March).

He has made 25 appearances this season but has benefitted from Oliver Skipp’s long-term injury.

However, following Rodrigo Bentancur’s emergence as a regular starter, Winks has returned to the bench.

Wenham now believes Winks’ days at Tottenham are numbered.

“Bentancur was very, very good again against West Ham,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Hojbjerg was very good as well, he just tidied up like he’s used to doing.

“You don’t really notice him when he’s doing that, which is why he gets unfairly criticised when he doesn’t create.

“Getting into the last knockings of the game I thought Conte might look to the bench.

“It was noticeable that in a game we were trying to see out, he didn’t bring on Harry Winks.

“He was left as an unused sub, I thought that was quite telling and it tells you what Conte thinks of him.

“Skipp is due to be back after the international break so all of a sudden Conte has three quality midfielders to choose from in Skipp, Bentancur and Hojbjerg.

“If they all stay fit until the end of the season I doubt we will see Winks again, that’s just the feeling I get.”
