Tottenham transfer news: Pundit expects Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to be sold after what he’s ‘seen’
Alex McLeish has tipped Tottenham to cash in on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer amid interest from Roma.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 26-year-old is not a “top-level” midfielder.
A recruitment source told Football Insider on Monday (21 February) that Jose Mourinho is plotting a summer move to reunite with the Denmark international at current club Roma.

It is understood Tottenham value Hojbjerg at around £25million.
McLeish suggested the midfielder would suit playing in Serie A better than the Premier League.
Asked if he could see Spurs letting Hojbjerg go this summer, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I could, yeah. I don’t see him as top-level.
“When you’re at a smaller club you’re a real standout. At Southampton, he did some sterling work there. Then at Spurs for a while, I thought this guy’s pretty imperial.
“But then you see teams exploit weaknesses of players and then you think he’s not the player that I thought was at the top level.
“You can see him being in an Italian team, with the way the Italians play the game. It’s not the fast, speedy attack you see in England, it’s more a slow buildup. I could see him in that system.
“I’ve seen some flaws in his Spurs days. Dropping back into the box when he should be coming out as a midfielder. There are things you know the real top players would do better than that.”

Hojbjerg is contracted at Spurs until 2025.
He has made 17 appearances from a possible 20 since Antonio Conte’s arrival at Tottenham.
