Tottenham trio intervene as angry Brennan Johnson footage emerges post-match
Tottenham scored a much-needed 3-1 win over Southampton on Sunday but Brennan Johnson may come away disappointed despite the result.
The Wales international scored Spurs’ first two goals from close range and will have felt he was the natural choice to complete his hattrick when he won a stoppage-time penalty.
Johnson, 23, was fouled in the area by Southampton left-back Welington with the Saints pushing for an equaliser.
However, it was Mathys Tel who stepped up to convert the spot-kick with Pedro Porro and Cristian Romero handing the ball to the Frenchman – who scored his first home goal for Tottenham.
Johnson denied first Premier League hattrick as Tottenham win
Footage has now emerged via YouTube (Chris Cowlin, 6 April) which shows an angry Johnson having to be consoled by his teammates after the full-time whistle.
Heung-min Son, Djed Spence and Micky van de Ven were all on hand to calm the forward down after he was denied his first Premier League hattrick.

Regardless, Johnson is now the club’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with 11 goals in 28 top-flight appearances.
Tel is on loan with Spurs from Bayern Munich until the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Tottenham could re-sign Chelsea star
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (6 April) that Tottenham are plotting a surprise move to re-sign Chelsea star Noni Madueke this summer.
Madueke left Tottenham’s academy setup in 2018 in favour of a move to Dutch outfit PSV.
He is back in England with Chelsea but has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge in recent months.
