‘Tottenham turn attention to signing Dean Huijsen – he’s certain to go’
Tottenham have entered the race to sign Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen ahead of the summer window, according to their former scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that Spurs feel he would be the “perfect” fit for their defence.
The 20-year-old is set to be one of the most highly sought-after players in Europe this summer after an outstanding breakthrough season for Bournemouth.
Brown told Football Insider Tottenham want to sign a top-class defender to play alongside Micky Van de Ven amid uncertainty about Cristian Romero’s future.
However, there are doubts about whether they would be able to convince Huijsen to join ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid.
Football Insider revealed in March that Liverpool could trigger Huijsen’s release clause which is believed to be set at around £50million.

Tottenham plot Dean Huijsen swoop as Bournemouth move ‘certain’
Brown told Football Insider last month that Huijsen is “certain” to leave Bournemouth after Chelsea joined the race for the centre-back’s signature.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Spurs will do everything they can to beat rivals to his signature.
“Dean Huijsen is a top player and he’s got a lot more to come,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s got all the ingredients to become a world-class player and he’s had a terrific season.
“There’s been a lot of talk about Real Madrid looking at him – they want to sign a new centre-back and he certainly fits that bill.
“But then you’ve got Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea all having a look at him.
“So as far as Tottenham’s interest goes, they might have to do some convincing.
“He would be perfect alongside Van de Ven in their defence.
“There’s no reason he wouldn’t join them if they can get into the Champions League, but you have to feel there are other clubs ahead of them.“

Marco Silva wants to replace Ange Postecoglou
Alongside their ambitions to strengthen their squad this summer, Tottenham may also be looking for a new manager to replace Ange Postecoglou.
Brown told Football Insider on 5 May that Marco Silva wants to become Tottenham’s next manager as he wants to take a step up from Fulham.
He believes he has taken Fulham as far as he can, and if they miss out on Europa Conference League football, he will be open to offers should they arrive.
However, Football Insider revealed Postecoglou could stay at Tottenham if he leads his side to Europa League success at the end of the season.
