Tottenham well placed to land £6m windfall – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has revealed Tottenham could earn up to £6million from hosting the Champions League final.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – revealed that the club could earn even more depending on Daniel Levy’s connections outside the stadium.

The Champions League final is one of football’s most highly-anticipated matches, which takes place in the biggest and best stadiums around Europe.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is seen as one of the most impressive in England since it opened in 2019, and its 62,850 capacity makes it ideal to host Europe’s biggest game.

Levy has been publicly open about his desire to host the Champions League final in the future which could be a financially rewarding night for Spurs.

Tottenham could gain plenty of finances from one night’s work

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set to host several matches at Euro 2028, but the club could also host the Champions League final the year prior to that.

The earliest possible date for that to happen would be 2027 as the Allianz Arena is set to host the 2025 final, while it will take place at the Puskas Arena Park the following year.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “[They could earn] Something around between five and six million mark, which is very good for a nights work.”

“Potentially more depending on what other fingers he has in pies around the stadium, but that’s where the fees would be in terms of potential share of revenue.

“UEFA are very hungry when they come to the year, splitting the revenue created around the Champions League.

“But for one night’s work, that’s not a bad sort of number to try and pick up.”
