Tottenham told where ‘bulk of Harry Kane money will go’ as ‘huge signing’ lined up – expert

Tottenham need to sign defensive reinforcements this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Spurs defender Alan Hutton said if the club sell Harry Kane they have to spend the money strengthening their back line.

According to the Daily Mail (30 July), left-back Sergio Reguilon has emerged as a target for Real Sociedad.

The 26-year-old spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid where he was hampered by injuries, limiting his game time to just 12 appearances.

Reguilon’s current contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium runs until 2025 after joining from Real Madrid in 2020.

When asked if it’s time for the Spaniard to move on from London, Hutton told Football Insider:I think it is an interesting one.

We know how Ange likes to play with his defence, how he defends, is Reguilon the type of guy that likes to do that? He can get up and down, bomb forward.

I think it is a big area of concern moving forward for the manager. I think defensively is where they have struggled in previous seasons so it is something he has to sort out.

But if Reguilon leave, who comes in? Who plays there? I do not know. I think they need reinforcements.

I think it is an area where if Kane goes and they get the money in that is where the bulk of it will go. Whether it be right-back, left-back or centre-back the defence needs a lot of work. Whether it will be a huge signing, I don’t know“.
