Tottenham will be fuming at Premier League announcement ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Thomas Frank is in dire need of a quick turnaround in form at Tottenham as his reign continues to draw criticism.

The Spurs manager oversaw another defeat on the weekend as Liverpool won 2-1.

It was yet another home defeat for Tottenham this season, which has left them 13th in the table, seven points behind the Champions League spots.

While Tottenham do not seem keen to sack Frank at present, despite the drastic dip in form, the Dane will be desperate to pick up positive results.

However, the appointment of Jarred Gillett for the Crystal Palace tie on Sunday will only add to the manager’s current frustration.

Tottenham and Jarred Gillett have already clashed this season

The Premier League announced on 22 December that Gillett would be the main man for Spurs’ away day to Crystal Palace.

The match could prove to be crucial for Tottenham to revive their European ambitions and avoid being sucked into the bottom half permanently.

However, Frank will be far from pleased that Gillett is in charge of the upcoming fixture, given his previous record against Spurs this season.

While a more positive memory for Tottenham fans this season was their 3-0 win over West Ham, it was still full of controversy.

However, the result could have been even better, with Cristian Romero heading the ball into the back of the net early on.

Yet, Gillett deemed that Micky van de Ven had fouled Kyle Walker-Peters in the buildup, which resulted in the goal being ruled out.

This proved to be a controversial decision, with James Maddison proceeding to criticise the officials during Tottenham’s win.

Now, with Frank desperate for a result, he will surely be furious that Gillet has been placed in charge.

Gillett’s record vs Tottenham explained

In his previous games covering Tottenham, Gillet has a mixed record.

The referee has overseen 13 Spurs matches to date, with six ended in victories for the North London side, while the other seven have resulted in losses.

Gillett has only ever handed one red card to a Tottenham player before. However, he has never given them a penalty.

Throughout his matches, the referee has also handed out 31 yellow cards to Spurs players.
