Tottenham will rocket past Chelsea next season after ‘incredible’ news – pundit
Tottenham will finish third in the Premier League next season if Antonio Conte spends £150million this summer.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s prospects this summer.
On Tuesday (24 May), Tottenham announced £150million of equity had been injected into the club.
A statement said the increased capital would be used to provide “greater financial flexibility and the ability to further invest on and off the pitch.”
Kenny claims Spurs can use this money to strengthen in the transfer market and overtake Chelsea as “best of the rest” in the Premier League behind Man City and Liverpool.
“Can they close the gap to Liverpool and City with that money? No,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Those clubs will be spending loads of money as well so closing the gap will take years.
“But Chelsea are wobbling at the moment. We don’t know who is staying and who is going.
“Tottenham are in a better position to push on and they have the lure of Antonio Conte.
“His signings have been top-class so far so if more of those come in, I can see them definitely pulling away from Arsenal.
“I don’t think they are that far off Chelsea now to be honest. They could be the best of the rest next season.
“It must be brilliant for Conte to hear he will have this money.
“I think that’s all he wanted to hear.”

Spurs secured Champions League football for next season with a 5-0 win at Norwich City on Sunday (22 May).
They return to the competition after competing in the Europa Conference League during 2021-22.
