Tottenham work on forward signing after Samuel Iling-Junior decision – sources
Tottenham pulled out of the race to sign Aston Villa-bound star Samuel Iling-Junior this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (24 June) that Juventus star Iling-Junior, 20, has agreed to join Villa as part of the deal taking Douglas Luiz to the Italian giants.
Tottenham watched the young Englishman closely in the 2023-24 campaign and held talks over a potential swoop in January.
But Spurs ultimately decided not to progress the deal after choosing to extend Timo Werner’s loan spell at the London club.
Werner will remain with the Lilywhites until the end of the 2024-25 campaign – with Tottenham maintaining an option to make the deal permanent.
In a new transfer plan, Ange Postecoglou and his recruitment team are now working on signing another marquee forward this summer.
Football Insider revealed last week (17 June) that Tottenham are big admirers of Ivan Toney following his scoring exploits for Brentford in recent years.

However, it is believed the Bees will need to drop their demands from the current asking price of between £50-60million.
Richarlison and Heung-min Son took turns to lead the line for Postecoglou’s side last season following Harry Kane’s exit.
Iling-Junior, 20, joins Villa after making 27 senior appearances for Juventus last term – notching one goal and two assists in six starts.

The former Chelsea academy star has scored twice in five appearances for England’s Under-21 side.
Spurs will play Europa League football from September after finishing fifth in the 2023-24 campaign.
