Kieran Maguire salutes ‘perfect’ Levy after Tottenham score ‘win’ over Man City
Daniel Levy is the “perfect” man to represent the interests of Tottenham and the Premier League after landing a European Club Association post ahead of his Man City counterpart.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Levy was appointed to the ECA board on 7 September.
Levy has replaced outgoing Man United chief executive Ed Woodward as the Premier League’s ambassador to the confederation of elite European clubs.
The Athletic reported after the announcement was made that Levy had faced competition for the position from Man City chief Ferran Soriano.
But the Spurs supremo is understood to have secured the backing of United, Arsenal and Liverpool among other Premier League clubs.
Levy’s appointment comes just months after he pulled Spurs out of the ECA after they decided to join the ill-fated European Super League.
Andrea Agnelli was replaced by PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi at the top of the ECA as part of a subsequent reshuffle.
And Maguire claims that the Tottenham co-owner is well-suited to his new role on the revamped committee.
“He is a professional with an eye for detail,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“He’s used to making tough decisions. The ECA are going to be involved in shaping the game in the next few years.

“I’d want someone like Daniel on my side because he knows the industry inside out.
“He will represent the Premier League and their interests very well, in my view. He’s the perfect man for the job”
