Tottenham’s stance on signing Vanderson revealed amid ‘£25m’ offer reveal

Tottenham are considering a move to sign Monaco wing-back Vanderson in a deal which could be worth around £25million.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed what his sources have told him about Spurs signing the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window.

With three years remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 club, they are keen to retain his services despite interests from a number of Premier League clubs.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side are aiming to strengthen ahead of their return to Champions League football and have identified Vanderson as a potential target.

However, the deal could depend on Pedro Porro’s future amid speculation that he could be leaving Tottenham amid growing interest this summer.

Football Insider revealed on 27 April that Tottenham will not let Porro go easily and Daniel Levy is prepared to drive a hard bargain for the wing-back.

Tottenham make Vanderson decision after Pedro Porro latest

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 29 April that Man City are unlikely to sign Porro this summer, in a significant boost to Tottenham’s ambitions.

Keeping the right-sided wing-back is set to limit Spurs’ interest in Vanderson, with other positions higher on the list of priorities for Postecoglou’s side.

As a result, O’Rourke explained that a deal for the Monaco star is unlikely as things stand as they will prioritise other targets first.

Obviously, he’s been a target for Tottenham in the past,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s been a target for several other Premier League clubs as well.

“A lot will be dependent on the future of Pedro Porro.

“He’s impressed at Monaco, a Brazil international, and a number of Premier League clubs have been looking at him over the years.

“He’s still got three years left on his contract at Monaco, and Monaco will be demanding a decent fee of probably £25million to let him go.

“Tottenham, now with Champions League football, will be looking to strengthen their squad and will have money available.

“So I’m sure he is somebody who is still on their list, but I don’t think he’s a priority right now.”

As a result, Spurs will enter the transfer market in search of a replacement, with their ambitions boosted by qualification for the Champions League.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed on 21 April that Tottenham could lose Romero this summer as part of a major overhaul of the squad.
