Tottenham’s updated stance on selling Brennan Johnson revealed as three-club race ignites
Tottenham are prepared to accept offers for Brennan Johnson in the January transfer window but will only let him leave for the right price.
That is according to former Tottenham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected at his previous clubs, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Spurs are keen for the forward to move on permanently.
Crystal Palace are believed to be the front-runners for the Wales international, but Football Insider exclusively revealed that Ipswich and Brentford also want Johnson.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Oliver Glasner is keen on signing Johnson and Palace could move quickly to get a deal over the line.
Should he become available in January as expected, there will be a three-team race to land him, with Premier League clubs now on alert of his situation.

Tottenham prepared to accept Brennan Johnson offer
Brown told Football Insider on 14 December that Tottenham are bracing for offers for Johnson and would be prepared to let him go either on loan or permanently.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Spurs are now preparing to cash in on the forward in January.
“I’m expecting him to leave Tottenham in January,” he told Football Insider.
“He isn’t part of the manager’s long-term plans, and if they get an offer that works for them financially, it would make sense to move him on.
“I don’t see what he offers to Tottenham at the moment, I don’t think he’s good enough to make any real impact and that’s why there are question marks about him.
“If I was one of the teams looking at him, I’d have a few concerns as well, because it hasn’t ever really clicked for him at Tottenham.
“They’ll need to know the reasons behind that, maybe the way they play doesn’t suit him, but even under Postecoglou he didn’t look majorly impressive.

“I don’t think he’s particularly good on the ball for a winger, and I’m not sure he’s effective enough going forward to be a striker, and I think Tottenham share those concerns.
“But it does seem there is interest in him, so from Spurs’ point of view, I think they’ll want to move him on permanently and make some money from selling him.”
Crystal Palace step up chase for Johnson
Following a string of frustrating results for the Eagles, Crystal Palace are planning to step up their transfer plans and make big moves in the mid-season window.
The Eagles are preparing to swoop for Johnson as Glasner targets attacking reinforcements amid an unprecedented level of fixture congestion in South London.
Ismaila Sarr’s participation at AFCON with Senegal has further weakened Palace’s front line, while a lack of depth has made Palace’s priorities clear.

Football Insider revealed in August that Glasner was left frustrated at Crystal Palace as a result of their slow start to the summer transfer window.
Since then, the boss has made clear his desire to strengthen his squad in the mid-season window if he is to lead Palace to further success after their FA Cup victory.
