Trent Alexander-Arnold likely to agree Liverpool deal – sources

Trent Alexadner-Arnold is the most likely of three contract rebels at Liverpool to sign a new deal, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Liverpool are set to push hard to agree a new contract given the defender’s importance to the club.

This comes after Football Insider revealed in July that the Reds would begin contract talks after the summer transfer window closed amid interest from Real Madrid.

However, there remains a possibility that all three walk away in 2026.

Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have also entered the final year of their current deals and could leave the club for free next summer.

The Egyptian winger spoke out after the 3-0 win against Manchester United to confirm he had held no talks with the club about a new deal.

Meanwhile, Van Dijk has refused to be drawn into any comments about his future, but previously admitted he would assess his options in the new season.

Liverpool pushing for Trent Alexander-Arnold to sign new deal in contract talks

Football Insider revealed in July that Liverpool are “desperate” to avoid a “disaster” next summer with all three of their star players set for contract talks.

Alexander-Arnold, though, is one they are particularly determined to keep hold of by securing a new deal before he can entertain talks over a move in January.

The Reds view him as their future captain when Van Dijk departs – whether that is next year or further down the line – and are set to offer him assurances over his role.

A product of the Liverpool academy, the defender first joined the club in 2004 at just six years old, before making his senior debut at 18.

He has gone on to make 310 appearances for the club, winning a Premier League title, a Champions League trophy, an FA Cup, two EFL Cups and the Club World Cup.

Sources have now backed Alexander-Arnold as the most likely player to renew his deal with Liverpool, leaving question marks over the futures of his teammates.

Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation and are intent on making him their latest “Galactico” singing, joining his close friend Jude Bellingham.

Sources say the right-back is in no rush to leave Liverpool as things stand, but until he commits to a new deal, his future will remain up in the air.
