Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘maturing’ after Liverpool pictures emerge – pundit
Kevin Campbell has claimed Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is “maturing physically and mentally”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker suggested the 23-year-old has been “working on his power and strength” in pre-season.
As pictured on his personal Twitter (23 July), Alexander-Arnold is in great shape heading into the 2022-23 campaign.
The right-back played 30 minutes of Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to RB Salzburg on Wednesday.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo (26 July), Reds assistant manager Pep Lijnders described the England international as “a future captain.”
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Alexander-Arnold heading into the new season, Campbell said: “Listen, he just needs to play his natural game this year.
“He is one of these full-backs who is key to Liverpool’s attack. That is not going to change this season.
“I really believe he will start the season well. His name will be on the World Cup squad list come the winter.
“You can see he is maturing physically and mentally.
“He came into the team as a young player. You have to be careful with young players. You do not want them bulking too much because they have not done the games.
“He has done the games now though. He can really start working on his power and strength now.”

Alexander-Arnold was one of Liverpool’s standout players in the 2021-22 campaign.
He contributed 19 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
