‘Trent Alexander-Arnold’s opinion on Liverpool replacement Conor Bradley’

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s opinion on Conor Bradley has emerged as Liverpool searches for a new right-back.

Alexander-Arnold will depart Liverpool this summer, ending his 20-year relationship with the Merseyside giants.

The England international broke through into the Reds’ first team in the 2016/17 season and has gone on to make 352 appearances in all competitions for the club.

However, with Alexander-Arnold seemingly set to join Real Madrid in the coming transfer window, all eyes turn to his touted successor, Bradley.

With the Northern Irishman set to succeed his English teammate as Liverpool’s right-back, the Madrid-bound defender’s opinion of his young teammate has been revealed in a report from The Times.

Liverpool search for new right-back

According to the report, Alexander-Arnold rates Bradley “very highly”, as Liverpool search for a new right-back.

The 21-year-old made his first team debut for the club in 2021 and, after a successful loan spell at Bolton in the 2022/23 season, has been with Liverpool’s senior squad since.

Bradley is one option, alongside Joe Gomez, who the Reds may turn to as an internal replacement for Alexander-Arnold.

Following the 26-year-old’s breakthrough, Liverpool have been able to avoid signing a first-team right-back for 10 years, with only Calvin Ramsay joining as a youth-teamer during that time period.

Conor Bradley has the talent but there are injury concerns

Football Insider Verdict

Bradley’s style of football is far more reminiscent of Andy Robertson’s than it is of Alexander-Arnold’s, but that may work in his favour.

Arne Slot is a fan of high-pressing and high-intensity football, and during the Northern Irishman’s stints on the pitch under the Dutchman, he has flourished.

Bradley is incredibly highly rated and he passes the eye test with ease, flying up-and-down the right flank, tenacious with his tackling and a constant goal-threat offensively.

However, the major question mark surrounding the young defender relates to his fitness issues. The defender has missed 47 games for club and country due to various injuries suffered over the last two years.

For as good as he is, and he is remarkably good, Liverpool may err on the side of caution and sign another right-back this summer due to Bradley’s poor injury record.
