‘Trevoh Chalobah handed transfer ultimatum as Chelsea future hangs in the balance’

Trevoh Chalobah’s future at Chelsea has been brought into question.

The defender has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Enzo Maresca’s men since returning from a loan spell with Crystal Palace in January.

Chelsea could end the season on a positive note if they win the Conference League and land a Champions League spot with a top-five Premier League finish.

Meanwhile, Maresca faces a busy summer ahead as the Blues are set to compete in the Club World Cup while also hoping to recruit well in the transfer market.

Chalobah will be told he can leave Chelsea this summer

The Stamford Bridge club have set their sights on the likes of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap as they look to bolster their options in the transfer window.

But to enjoy a positive summer of recruitment, Chelsea will also have to sanction the exits of some of their current players.

Meanwhile, according to BBC Sport [14 May], Chalobah will be told he must become a back-up option or leave the West London outfit.

While Chalobah is potentially headed for the exit door, Maresca’s men are in the race to sign Bournemouth ace Dean Huijsen.

Chelsea set their sights on Ezri Konsa

Maresca’s first season in the managerial helm at Stamford Bridge should go down as a largely successful one if the Italian can guide the Blues to the Conference League title, as well as landing Champions League football via a strong finish to the Premier League campaign.

Chelsea can guarantee a top-five spot if they beat both Manchester United and fellow Champions League hopefuls Nottingham Forest in their two remaining top-flight outings.

But Maresca knows that he must enjoy a more successful season next term, and to achieve that, he will have to recruit well in the summer transfer window.

With that in mind, former Man United and Aston Villa scout Mick Brown exclusively informed Football Insider that Chelsea have set their sights on a move for Villa defender Ezri Konsa.

Konsa has enjoyed a strong season with the West Midlands outfit, featuring in runs to the Champions League quarter-finals and the FA Cup semi-finals.
