Trevoh Chalobah pokes fun at Chelsea star Tosin Adarabioyo after Tottenham win

Trevoh Chalobah has sent a message to his Chelsea teammate Tosin Adarabioyo on social media after the win over Tottenham.

Chalobah spent the first half of the season on loan at Crystal Palace, before being recalled from Selhurst Park by his parent club.

The 25-year-old has been an important part of Enzo Maresca’s side since re-joining the squad, appearing 10 times in all competitions.

However, there remain question marks over the defender’s future, as Chelsea may look to move Chalobah on in the summer to raise money for further investment.

In a typically tense derby between the Blues and Spurs, which saw 10 yellow cards handed out, the former England U21 international put in a stout performance at the heart of Chelsea’s defence, helping his side extend their winning run over Tottenham to four games.

Tosin Adarabioyo sends ‘delivered’ message to Chelsea fans

Following the win, Adarabioyo posted four images of himself to Instagram, captioned: “Derby day delivered.”

Chalobah then took the opportunity to poke some fun at the 27-year-old, responding: “Uncle T”, to the defender who is only two years his senior.

Both players are no strangers to a London derby, having played for two London clubs each, and both are likely to be involved in some capacity when Chelsea take on another club from the capital, Brentford, in their next match on Sunday (6 April).

Chelsea must find reliable partner for Levi Colwill

Football Insider Verdict

While Chalobah and Adarabioyo have had their moments for the Blues this season, neither have cemented themselves as un-droppable for Maresca.

The top three sides in the Premier League table, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Nottingham Forest all have one thing in common, a first-choice defensive duo at centre-back.

Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk have been synonymous with the Reds’ success in recent years, whilst Gabriel and William Saliba are two of the first players that spring to mind when talking about the Gunners.

Chelsea, however, have rotated through a plethora of partners alongside Levi Colwill, with some being more successful than others.

Axel Disasi was shipped out on loan to Aston Villa after failing his audition, meanwhile, Adarabioyo, Chalobah, and Benoit Badiashile have all failed to make the position their own.

Wesley Fofana is a fine choice alongside Colwill, as demonstrated by his performances when he is fit, but the Frenchman’s time at Stamford Bridge has been blighted by injuries, and he can no longer be relied upon regularly as a consequence.

This summer, Chelsea look set to make a move for Murillo from Forest, having seen the Brazilian thrive alongside Nikola Milenkovic at the City Ground, in an effort to give their young star a permanent partner to rely on at the back.
