Report: Aston Villa handed huge blow ahead of clash v Preston
Aston Villa have a huge headache to deal with due to injury concerns over three of their key players ahead of the visit of Preston North End to Villa Park on Tuesday night, according to a report.
The Birmingham Mail state that Jack Grealish, Albert Adomah, and Andre Green are all doubts for the Championship clash, while Ahmed Elmohamady could also miss the game after being withdrawn at half-time in the 2-0 defeat at Craven Cottage.
Villa boss Steve Bruce will know how badly the side needs the firepower of Adomah and the creativity of Grealish back in the side as soon as possible.
Without the duo, the Claret and Blues are a very different prospect.
And the boss bemoaned the loss of his stars, as quoted in The Birmingham Mail Bruce said: “It has been a cruel blow on us losing Albert and Grealish.
“They give us penetration and a forward threat.
“Take away Elmo as well and we did not have that penetration.
“When I opened us up and got a couple of strikers, they enjoyed that.
“But Fulham are a good side, they have some good players. They are ones to beat.”
Defeat on Saturday against Fulham ended the side’s seven-game winning streak that had seen them march up the table to second.
However, following the Cottager’s victory, Bruce’s side dropped back down to third and out of the automatic promotion spots.
Goals from Ryan Sessegnon and Floyd Ayite handed Fulham all three points on an afternoon where Villa never looked like getting anything from the game.
And Cardiff now have a two-point advantage over the Birmingham club in the race for the Premier League.
News of the defeat soon filtered through to Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters who were quick to move their rivals on social media post-match.
