Trossard and Van Dijk react to Kevin De Bruyne message on Man City latest

Kevin de Bruyne has taken to Instagram to react to the latest developments at Man City, leading to a reaction from a number of Premier League stars.

The midfielder has of course enjoyed a long successful career at the Etihad Stadium, although that is soon going to come to an end.

De Bruyne will leave Man City at the end of this season, when his contract with the club will expire after a ten-year spell with the club.

Even so, the Belgian is continuing to make an impact for Pep Guardiola‘s side while he is still in his final run of games with the Citizens.

Kevin De Bruyne seals win over Wolves

On Friday (2 May), Man City welcomed Wolves to the Etihad Stadium, as the outgoing Premier League champions looked to maintain their push for a Champions League place.

They would ultimately do that thanks to a 35th minute goal from De Bruyne, which was enough to secure a 1-0 win for the hosts.

That means Guardiola’s side are now four points clear of sixth place Nottingham Forest in the battle for the top five spots needed to secure a place in Europe’s top competition for next season.

Beyond that, Man City are now just three points behind second place Arsenal, and De Bruyne is unsurprisingly well aware of the significance of that result.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday (3 May), the midfielder posted an image of him scoring that winner, along with a caption that simply read: “Another 3 points on the board”.

In response, De Bruyne’s Belgium teammates Youri Tielemans of Aston Villa and Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard were among those to like that post, as was Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk.

Man City will miss their midfield talisman

Football Insider Verdict

There will be an immense sadness for those connected with the club when De Bruyne does officially depart at the end of this season.

Not only has he built a huge connection with so many at Man City throughout such a productive and successful spell with the club, but contributions such as this show how important he can still be to them.

So after such an underwhelming season, there may be some concerns about where he ends up next and if that could wind up costing them in the coming campaign.

Links between De Bruyne and Aston Villa have been played down recently, but there will be plenty more interested, and Man City will hope he does not join a club where he could face them in the near future.
