Troy Parrott: Premier League clubs on alert as West Ham tipped to move

Troy Parrott became a hero for his country as he fired the Republic of Ireland into the World Cup playoffs, and has piqued the attention of Premier League clubs.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 23-year-old is on the radar of a number of clubs after a hattrick for Ireland.

He has not caught the attention for his Ireland heroics alone, though, as his 13 goals and two assists in 14 games for his club have seen scouts keeping tabs on his progress.

Parrott left Tottenham to join AZ Alkmaar in 2024, following five loan spells away from the North London club, as he wanted to secure more regular playing time.

Having established himself as a regular and important part of the club’s plans, with 33 goals in 61 appearances since joining, a move back to England may be beckoning.

Premier League clubs put on alert by Troy Parrott displays

Football Insider revealed on 14 November that Premier League clubs are watching Parrott alongside Bundesliga sides during the international break.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that a return to England is very much on the cards for the striker when the January window opens.

A number of Premier League clubs are looking at Troy Parrott,” he told Football Insider.

“Not just because he scored a hattrick in that massive win for Ireland, but he’s been playing at a high level for his club on a more regular basis this season.

“When somebody’s playing at a high level and scoring regularly, these clubs have got to be having a look at them and sending their scouts to go and watch.

“We’ve spoken about numerous clubs in the Premier League who are in need of a striker.

“This is somebody who is playing in Europe, seems to be at the top of his game, scores goals for club and country, so they’d be stupid not to have a look.

“Especially playing in the Dutch league, I know most of the clubs if not all of them in England are keeping an eye on what’s going on over there.

“So yeah, I would be very surprised if they weren’t aware of how he’s been playing.”

West Ham could make a move for Parrott in January

While there has been previous interest from the likes of Wolves, Football Insider tipped West Ham as one of the clubs to look at Parrott given their striker situation.

Football Insider revealed on 15 November that West Ham want to sign a new striker amid concerns about the long-term future of Niclas Fullkrug in East London.

This comes after the striker’s agent confessed a move away from West Ham is likely to take place in January as the 32-year-old is keen to move on.

Sources told Football Insider that West Ham will seriously consider offers for Fullkrug, who has endured a tough time at the London Stadium since his arrival in 2024.

As a result, Parrott could be seen as the answer to their prayers thanks to his outstanding form for both club and country so far this season.
