Troy Parrott’s contract situation examined as Leeds United ‘all over’ bid for star striker
Troy Parrott appears to be one of Leeds United‘s biggest transfer targets ahead of the summer, and understandably so.
The 24-year-old, formerly of Tottenham Hotspur, has 28 goals and eight assists in 41 games for AZ Alkmaar this term, having already notched 24 goal contributions in his first campaign.
Mick Brown told Football Insider that Leeds are “all over it” in a bid for Parrott, and Daniel Farke’s side are unlikely to be the only club keeping tabs on the centre-forward’s progression.
Leeds’ transfer plans likely depend on the club’s league status ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, but whatever happens, Parrott needs to be on the Whites’ list of targets this summer.

AZ Alkmaar only signed Parrott on a permanent deal from Tottenham in the summer of 2024. Therefore, he is currently contracted until 2029, suggesting that he will not be easy to sign.
The Dutch club may have to accept an offer for the Republic of Ireland international, though, with bids already coming in for him ahead of the summer transfer window.
It is understood that Wolfsburg have already seen a £15.7million offer rejected, with AZ holding out for between £21million and £26million, and Leeds will likely have those funds to splash.

If reports are to be believed, Parrott is only earning £18,000-a-week, but should he return to the Premier League, that number is likely to go through the roof, which the Whites will need to consider.
What could this mean for Leeds United’s current attackers?
There is absolutely no way that Leeds would even consider selling Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has revived his career since moving to Elland Road, with 10 goals in 30 games.
However, his form has meant that Lukas Nmecha has fallen down the pecking order, while Joel Piroe is almost nowhere to be seen, other than in FA Cup fixtures for the Whites.
Noah Okafor and Willy Gnonto continue to be linked with exits due to their lack of first-team minutes, but the winger positions are a completely different situation heading into the summer window.
Calvert-Lewin’s goals have certainly dried up in recent weeks, sparking calls for a new striker signing in the summer, and that signing could be Parrott, with Leeds ready to splash the cash on his signature.
