Deal all but done - TV journalist claims Arsenal have virtually secured big-name signing
By Harry Sykes
A Bosnian TV journalist has claimed that Arsenal have agreed the terms of the signing of coveted Schalke defender Sead Kolasinac.
Haris Mrkonja, who works for N1 TV from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has told the Arsenal fans site Gunners Town that his contacts told him the transfer has already been tied up.
There have been widespread reports in recent weeks that the north Londoners are lading the race to sign Kolasinac ahead of rival clubs including Everton, Manchester City and AC Milan.
Bosnian news outlet Reprezentacija claimed a fortnight ago that Kolasinac had signed a pre-contract deal with the Gunners and Sky Italy have reported the Londoners were in pole position to sign him, while Bleacher Report claim that the left-back has “already undergone medical tests”.
Mrkonja’s information is that the deal is agreed in principle for Kolasinac to join Arsene Wenger’s side this summer.

“I got confirmation about Arsenal from a very reliable source, which chose to remain anonymous,” he told Gunners Town. “‘The deal is done,’ he said. ‘They still haven’t signed anything because of the rules, but they have verbally agreed on all the terms’.”
The Bosnia-Herzegovinia international has a contract at Schalke that expires at the end of the season and he is free to make a switch for nothing on 30 June.
The left-sided player, who is predominantly a left-back but can also play further forward in midfield, has missed three of Schalke’s last five matches with a torn abductor muscle but has been a mainstay in the Schalke defence this term, making 33 appearances in all competitions.
The assist machine has also made a huge impact in an attacking sense, netting three goals and laying on nine assists for his teammates.
Arsenal currently have two senior left-backs in their squad, Spaniard Nacho Monreal, 31, and academy product Kieran Gibbs, 27.
In other Arsenal transfer news, Wenger has said this is the best position of a player Liverpool are trying desperately to sign.
