Romelu Lukaku wants to be the best striker in the world

By Coral Barry

It was the clash of the heavyweights at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon as Chelsea strikers past and present went head to head.

In a 3-3 thriller between Chelsea and Everton, that included two goals in the eight minutes of stoppage time, the Blues twice came from behind to salvage a point.

Amid the high drama, an intriguing sub-plot was two opposing strikers as Lukaku returned to his former club in his best form since he was sold for £22million to the Merseysiders in the summer of 2014.

Fans were split which of the two strikers is top dog after Costa led the unlikely Chelsea fightback from 2-0 down with a goal and an assist to lift his goal haul for the campaign to nine.

Lukaku did not add to his 19-goal tally for the season but caused the hosts’ backline huge problems with his power and goal threat.

Those of a Chelsea persuasion are convinced that Costa demonstrated his greater pedigree over his younger rival.

Despite his impressive performance, Lukaku could not get on the scoresheet and his hunt goes on for his first goal against his former club.

That seems to have gone down well with some Chelsea fans, as this one tweet perfectly captures.
