Tottenham fans react on Twitter to eyecatching Dembele cameo v Monaco
By Alex Taylor
Mousa Dembele played brilliantly as a second-half substitute in Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat against Monaco – and fans took to Twitter to praise the midfielder’s performance.
Demebele, 29, was named as a substitute at Wembley in Spurs’ Champions League opener despite being fit and free to start after making his return following a six-match domestic suspension.
Mauricio Pochettino removed Heung-Min Son to make way for the Belgium international after 45 minutes and the move worked well for the Argentine boss.
Dembele’s arrival alongside Eric Dier in central midfield allowed Dele Alli to push forward into a No10 role and become more of a goal threat.
Spurs were unable to score an equaliser but supporters on Twitter praised Dembele for his display with one fan saying he is Tottenham’s best player.

If you had an entire side of Mousa Dembele's, club football competitions would be cancelled indefinitely. They'd be unbeatable.

The north London outfit conceded twice early on after clinical finishes from Bernardo Silva and Thomas Lemar took advantage of ragged Spurs defending.
But Toby Alderweireld gave the home side hope with a superbly-taken header from an Erik Lamela corner shortly before half-time.
Despite Tottenham’s dominance they were unable to find a second goal in the tie and were forced to leave Wembley, their new European, home with no points.
Pochettino will now turn his attention to his sides next domestic fixture, they welcome Sunderland to White Hart Lane on Sunday.
