‘Two points dropped’ – Leeds fans rage at Daniel Farke’s ‘terrible game management’ after Everton draw
Leeds United played out a 1-1 draw with Everton on Monday at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, despite a dominant first-half performance.
It was another point towards safety, with Leeds still in the battle for survival in the Premier League.
However, the Peacocks could have easily taken all three, with James Justin deservedly putting the visitors ahead in the first half, in what was a dominant display.
Yet, Everton would make changes at half-time and eventually get themselves back into the game through Thierno Barry’s goal.
After such a great first half, many supporters were furious with Daniel Farke, who was unable to adapt to take all three points.
Leeds United fans question Daniel Farke’s adaptability after Everton draw
Farke has turned life around at Elland Road in recent weeks after being heavily linked with the sack in December.
The manager has masterminded many great results in recent weeks, with the Peacocks six points above 18th-placed West Ham.
However, with both the Hammers and Nottingham Forest picking up wins on the weekend, three points would have done wonders to ease fans’ relegation nerves in West Yorkshire.
Farke was unable to achieve this despite dominating large periods of Monday’s game, with the Toffees there for the taking.
Now, Leeds supporters have taken to X to express their frustration at how late the manager changed things in the second half.
I don’t know why we sat back for so long until they got the goal. It was coming. Farke needs to learn to make the changes sooner in this league. A point away from home. On to Arsenal on Saturday

Terrible game management. Players go into panic mode and Farke doesn’t make subs in time.

Farke was too conservative there. Everton were there for the taking, another two points thrown away. But I would’ve taken a draw at the beginning with Bijol and Gudmondson out #lufc

Farke might as well sit in the changing room till the 70th min then come out then make same subs every game anyway

Can someone at the club get Farke to Specsavers if he can’t see what’s happening in the game when everyone can he the issue his game management is so poor subs at 84 minutes is a joke when we are get run ragged in the center of the park 2 points dropped that’s on him https://t.co/5BylscI2Bu

Good point in the end but Farke cost us that win with sitting back for 45 mins and subs 20 mins too late #lufc 🔵🟡⚪️ https://t.co/Pwuds45wIq

A point on the road in the Premier League is a great point

But I wish Farke would be proactive with his substitutions and bring them on earlier #lufc
What did Farke say after the Everton draw?
Despite missing out on all three points, the result is still a solid one for the Peacocks.
Leeds have remained in touching distance of many midtable sides, and can continue to look up the Premier League table.
While there are still some tricky fixtures on the horizon, it is another point towards safety for Leeds, a feat that promoted sides have failed to achieve for years in the Premier League.
With 40 points being the benchmark to stay in the top-flight, Leeds are now just 14 points off this total.

After the match, Farke was quick to reflect on the result, rueing the missed chances in the first half, while also being pleased that they are now a point closer to safety.
He told BBC Match of the Day on 26 January: “Calvert-Lewin with his chance probably should have scored. But we were dominant, we were brave out of possession, defensively well structured and brave on the ball – it was not to be to win it today, but nevertheless we take a point and move on.
“It is a nice sign that we are moving one step closer to our goal. To come here and put in this performance is encouraging, but the job is not done yet. We have to keep going and need to win more points, for that it is important that we are competitive like this.
“In seasons, you have ups and downs. We have momentum, and we want to ride the momentum further.”
