Leeds 21-year-old provides injury update, fans will be pleased

By Amir Mir

Leeds defender Tyler Denton has revealed his recovery from an ankle injury is “going well” as he aims to be back training next week.

The 21-year-old left-back made a stunning start to his career by scoring on debut in the EFL Cup against Luton Town in August.

Days after his memorable debut, Denton signed a new three-year deal with the Yorkshire club but he has not made a subsequent appearance.

Speaking at the Christmas lights switch on at Merrion Centre, the Leeds youngster updated supporters on his injury status.

“The recovery is going well, it was a bit on an innocuous injury, I just slipped in training and my ankle swelled up,” Denton told the club’s official website.

“I’m running again now, the rehab has gone well and I am hoping to be back involved with training from next week.”

Despite his young age, left-back Denton will be hoping to make his mark on the first-team set-up and impress manager Garry Monk.

But he will have to fight for a first team birth with regular Charlie Taylor, who has started all 16 Championship fixtures this season.

The Yorkshire giants are sixth in the league table with 26 points and will host leaders Newcastle after the international break.

In other Leeds team news, supporters will be surprised as goalkeeper Rob Green names the most skillful player in the team.
