Tyler Morton responds to Harvey Elliott’s ‘incredible’ Liverpool message

Harvey Elliott thanked Liverpool and their fans for an “incredible experience” as speculation grows over his future at Anfield.

Arne Slot‘s players have been in an atmospheric mood for several weeks after they sealed the Premier League title with four games to spare, and eventually finished 10 points clear of second-placed Arsenal.

Liverpool may have ended their campaign with two defeats and draws against Chelsea, Brighton, Arsenal and Crystal Palace respectively since their 20th title was confirmed, but Slot is already looking ahead.

Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz’s signatures are all expected to be secured and announced at Anfield before pre-season begins, and attention will also soon turn to their departures.

Liverpool ‘forever in my heart’ as Elliott nears exit

Wirtz’s seemingly imminent arrival at Anfield once the transfer window opens could create a log-jam of attacking midfielders for Liverpool, with the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker set to cost over £120million.

As a result, Elliott is one player who could be pushed towards the periphery this summer, although Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Liverpool will still demand close to £50m for the midfielder.

Elliott posted on Instagram (28 May) to reflect on the Reds’ open-top bus parade through the streets of Liverpool, in which he said: “This club. These fans. This city, forever in my heart. Thank you for another incredible experience.”

Several Liverpool fans questioned whether this was a potential ‘goodbye’ message, while his Reds team-mate Tyler Morton said: “My brother”.

Elliott exit looks inevitable at Liverpool as new signings planned

Elliott’s versatility has stood him in good stead to play deep, in the number 10 role or out wide under Slot, but a lack of game-time throughout the season could push Liverpool’s number 19 towards the exit door.

Premier League sides have queued up to potentially sign the 22-year-old, and Wolves boss Vitor Pereira sees Elliott as a player who could replace the outgoing Matheus Cunha as the focal point at Molineux.

Nottingham Forest are in pole position for the midfielder though, and after Football Insider revealed that they also see Elliott as a key man’s successor in Morgan-Gibbs White, it remains to be seen how quickly the transfer merry-go-round will turn.
