Tyrique George’s Chelsea exit now inevitable as approach made ahead of January
Chelsea’s Tyrique George has continued to be linked away from Stamford Bridge ahead of the January transfer window.
Despite the 19-year-old being one of the Blues’ best upcoming youngsters, game time has been limited this season.
To date, George has only played in four Premier League matches, with his appearances usually restricted to cup competitions.
As a result, George’s future at Chelsea has been uncertain going into January, with the youngster pursuing more game time.
Now, after Chelsea upped their pursuit of Antoine Semenyo, surely the 19-year-old is on his way out.

Chelsea up pursuit of Antoine Semenyo
On Tuesday, it was confirmed that Chelsea had enquired about the potential signing of Semenyo.
The Bournemouth winger is one of the most in-form players in the division at present, and would no doubt go straight into the starting XI if Chelsea pull the transfer off.
However, this would most certainly result in the end of George’s stay at Stamford Bridge.
- George made his first-team debut for Chelsea last season
- The attacker played a major part in the Blues’ Europa Conference League victory
- However, this season has seen his game time limited
The youngster is already far behind the pecking order at the Blues, with Pedro Neto, Estevao and Alejandro Garnacho all in front of him.
If another player is added to this list, it would make it almost impossible for George to get regular game time, barring a freak series of injuries and suspensions.

West Ham have already been linked with a potential move for George.
Therefore, it feels like his departure is inevitable, especially with the Blues targeting a winger anyway.
Can Chelsea afford to allow George to depart?
Given the quality of the wingers Chelsea currently have, there certainly wouldn’t be any short-term impact to the Blues.
However, it is clear that the youngster has plenty of potential and would one day become a world-class player.
This is proven on Fotmob on 23 December, with George putting up solid numbers in the Champions League despite his limited game time.
| Tyrique George’s stats in the Champions League this season | Per 90 minutes |
| Goals | 0.57 |
| xG | 0.17 |
| Shots | 2.28 |
| xA | 0.15 |
| Chances created | 2.28 |
| Successful crosses | 33.3% |
Therefore, it would seem silly for Chelsea to put themselves in a position that could eventually cost them the long-term future of the winger.
Yet, based on their current activity, this is the route that the London side is happy to take.
