Tyrone Mings cited as Rangers offer submitted – expert

Rangers will pay £5million-plus for Malik Tillman.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton said that the Gers won’t be willing to go much higher than the option to buy price tag.

The 21-year-old joined the Gers on loan from Bayern Munich for the 2022-23 season on a deal that included an option-to-buy for £5million.

But according to German outlet Kicker (18 June), the German club have rejected the deal that was previously agreed between the sides and could force the Light Blues to pay above the odds for Tillman’s signature.

Hutton suggested the Gers will be willing to go over their agreed upon price.

If we are talking above £5m, that is a lot of money for a Scottish team to pay out,” he told Football Insider.

Michael Beale has spoken about how much he enjoys working with him and that he doesn’t see him as having a glass ceiling at this moment in time which means he thinks he is going to improve massively.

The problem when you bring players on loan and there is no fixed fee. I have seen it before with Tyrone Mings when he came to Aston Villa on loan then the goalposts were moved and they had to pay higher because he had a good season.

You have to get it down in writing that no matter how the player does, this is the cost. It is a shame because he could go on and improve at Rangers.

There will come a line that Rangers can’t cross and it is probably not that much higher than the £5m.
