Tyrone Mings speaks out on new job away from Aston Villa
Tyrone Mings has issued a message via social media about a new role he has taken up away from Aston Villa.
The centre-back has returned to action recently, after he endured a long spell out of Unai Emery’s side due to injury.
Since his return, he has already made some important contributions for the club, with Mings helping Aston Villa reach the quarters finals of the Champions League.
However, the 32-year-old is now also becoming involved in football from an off the pitch perspective, something Mings has now provided an update on.

Tyrone Mings reacts to Euro 2028 appointment
Earlier this week, Aston Villa fans were left surprised was Mings was named on EURO 2028’s board of directors for the tournament.
In just over three years, the Euros will be held across Britain, with games due to take place in England, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland.
Tyrone Mings for Aston Villa in 2024/25 | Total (as per SofaScore) |
Appearances | 10 |
Pass Success Rate | 88% |
Tackles per Game | 0.6 |
Interceptions per Game | 0.5 |
Clearances per Game | 4.3 |

There will again be 24 teams competing at the finals, with Spain aiming to defend the title they claimed in Germany last year.
A tournament of that scale will need significant oragnisation, and it appears Mings is relishing being a part of that.
Taking to his Instagram story to react to confirmation of his appointment to that off the field role, the Aston Villa centre-back simply wrote: “Delighted to be appointed on to the board of UK&I2028.”

Aston Villa will be intrigued by Tyrone Mings’ EURO 2028 involvement
Football Insider Verdict
Mings will be 35 by the time EURO 2028 begins, and he has been out of the England squad for some time now amid his injury issues.
It is therefore hard to imagine that the Aston Villa man will be playing in the tournament, and so this is a good way for him to still be involved with it.
Such a role will help set him up for future positions when he retires from playing, and having a player involved to offer insight will also help organisers with preparations, providing more credence to the plans.
For Aston Villa themselves, this will be an intriguing situation, although it is one they were no doubt already aware of.
Mings still remains an important player for Emery‘s side, and has a contract at Villa Park until the end of next season.
As a result, they are going to want him to continue to focus on his job for the club despite this new role, at a time where they will be looking to continue their upward progress.
