Udogie and Moore send messages as Tottenham agree new defender deal

Destiny Udogie and Mikey Moore have both reacted with apparent delight to a new deal that has been agreed by Tottenham.

It is going to be a busy summer at Spurs, as they aim to bounce back from a dismal Premier League campaign that saw them finish 17th in the top-flight standings.

Thomas Frank has already replaced Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham manager, and there is likely to be changes on the pitch as well.

Mathys Tel has already returned on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich, and while other signings will be targeted, exits could be on the cards as well.

There is uncertainty over if and when Son Heung-min could leave Tottenham after ten years at the club, amid potential interest from elsewhere.

While those issues are yet to be resolved, one player who will still be on Spurs’ books for the forseeable future has now been confirmed.

Dante Cassanova signs new contract

On Friday (20 June), it was confirmed that Dante Cassanova has signed a new two-year contract that is set to keep him in North London until the summer of 2027.

The versatile defender is yet to make his senior debut for the club but has been part of the matchday squad numerous occasions.

That includes in several matches on Tottenham’s journey to winning the Europa League last season, which salvaged their otherwise disappointing campaign.

After taking to Instagram to react to that confirmation of his new deal with Spurs, the 20-year-old wrote: “The work continues”.

Members of the Tottenham first-team squad were keen to show their support, with Udogie commenting on that post with the message: “That’s my boy”.

Moore meanwhile, sent a similar message by writing “My boy”. Both players added loveheart emojis to their posts, an indiciator that Cassanova is already a popular figure in the first-team.

Tottenham chance may soon come for defender

Football Insider Verdict

It will be interesting to see exactly what is to come for Cassanova over the course of the coming campaign now this contract is sorted.

At 20-years-old, the defender is at an age where he ought to be gaining some match experience in senior football.

With a new manager at the helm, he may see this as a good opportunity to do that with Tottenham, but if not then a loan move that gives him those opportunities surely makes sense.

Indeed, with his future now secure, Spurs will not need to worry about any risk of losing him at the end of that spell, and so should be keeing their options open with regards to the defender this summer.
