‘UEFA troll Rangers ahead of Man United kick-off at Old Trafford’

Rangers appear to have been trolled by UEFA ahead of their Europa League match against Man United, journalist Peter Hall revealed on X.

The Scottish giants are preparing to face off against their English counterparts in their Thursday night match-up (23 January).

A win for the Glaswegian side would guarantee them qualification to the knockout rounds of the competition.

However, UEFA seem to think that Rangers will set up incredibly defensively.

In the pre-match team-sheets given out to reporters and journalists, UEFA showed the 10 Rangers outfield players in their own-half, with striker Hamza Igamane striking a lonely figure in the other half of the pitch.

Philippe Clement likely to set up Rangers defensively

Football Insider Verdict

UEFA may not be far-off in their thinking that Rangers will have most of their players in their own-half against United.

Clement has been under serious pressure this season, and with the Belgium national team job now available, Keith Wyness told Football Insider exclusively that the ‘Gers manager may call it quits at Ibrox.

United, despite their issues this season, have never lost in four meetings between the two sides [UEFA], with all their previous meetings coming in the Champions League.

Former Rangers man, Amad, will start for United and left-back Ridvan Yilmaz will have his work cut out for him trying to deal with the tricky Ivorian.

Igamane, will have to put in a serious shift for the Glaswegian side, and will be relying on his wingers Vaclav Cerny and Jefte getting up the pitch to support him.

Despite the gulf in budgets between the two sides, Rangers will be buoyed from their previous Old Firm Derby win over Celtic on 2 January, knowing that this is a group of players who can turn up for the big occasions.

In other news, Dundee may lose a duo to Rangers in the January transfer window.
