Unai Emery to Man United? Keith Wyness drops emphatic four-word response
Ruben Amorim is struggling to turn Man United’s fortunes around after his appointment at Old Trafford late last year.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (5 March) that Amorim has told friends he thinks he made a mistake taking the job at Old Trafford.
Reports in France and Spain have claimed Man United are considering Aston Villa boss Unai Emery as a potential future replacement for Amorim.
Emery has been with Villa since late 2022 and qualified the Midlands club for the Champions League last season.
Aston Villa’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has responded to the rumours of Man United interest.

Emery to deny move away from ‘great project’ at Aston Villa
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted the speculation is “mischief-making from the Spanish media”.
Emery is under contract until June 2029 after he signed a five-year extension last May.

Wyness insisted the Spanish boss is part of a “great project” at Villa with sporting director Monchi – who previously worked with him at Sevilla.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I dismiss that one completely.
“I think it’s mischief-making from the Spanish media. I don’t see any way Emery will leave Villa at the moment.
“The owners have been very good with him and he’s also got Monchi alongside him as sporting director.
“It’s very tight at Villa and I don’t think he’d want to move away from that, it’s a great project.
“I don’t see it happening at all.”

Amorim shocked by state of Man United
Sources have told Football Insider that Amorim has been “personally shocked by how bad the players are”, having “thought they were much better” as he prepared to take the hot seat at Old Trafford.
Man United fans turned on Amorim in the aftermath of their FA Cup exit against Fulham on Sunday (2 March).
Meanwhile, Football Insider has been told by ex-United chief scout Mick Brown (27 February) that Amorim is “destroying morale” in the Man United dressing room.
