Unai Emery to Real Madrid odds slashed as exit development emerges

Unai Emery could soon be on the move from Aston Villa as Real Madrid continues to struggle.

The Spaniard has overseen a dramatic rise for the Birmingham outfit in recent years, with the side now continuously competing for European football.

As a result, plenty of teams have taken notice of Emery’s success, especially with Villa currently competing for the Premier League title.

Now, with Real Madrid faltering under Alvaro Arbeloa, the former Arsenal boss has been linked with a move back to his homeland.

Unai Emery to Real Madrid now just 9/2

Despite Xabi Alonso leaving Real Madrid earlier this month, this has not fixed the Spanish giants’ problems.

Since Arbeloa has taken over, he has already overseen two defeats, including a 3-2 defeat to Albacete Balompie in the Copa del Rey

Now, after their 4-2 defeat to Benfica, which resulted in Real Madrid going into the Champions League playoffs, the pressure is already on the manager.

With Emery recently linked with an Aston Villa exit, he has now emerged as the favourite to take over from Arbeloa if he were to be sacked.

One bookmaker has the Villa boss at 9/2 to take over, with Oddschecker on 29 January confirming that these odds have been slashed.

Who else is in the running for the Real Madrid job?

On top of Emery, Jose Mourinho is also linked with the Real Madrid job at 5/1.

The manager masterminded a 4-2 win over the capital side on Wednesday, which ensured their place in the playoff round in the Champions League.

On top of this, Jurgen Klopp continues to be linked with the Real Madrid job.

The former Liverpool boss is 6/1 to make his return to the dugout at the Spanish giants.

Potential outsiders include Enzo Maresca and Thomas Tuchel.

The two managers are priced at 8/1 and 12/1, with Maresca recently being sacked by Chelsea after a poor run of form.

In comparison, Tuchel has only just taken the England National Team job, and is yet to even lead the Three Lions into a tournement.

However, it remains to be seen if Madrid goes for any of these candidates if they do sack Arbeloa anytime soon, as they look to bring in even more trophies in the coming years.
