'Unbelievable' - Exclusive: Darren Bent thrilled for Celtic player as exit deal all but done

Darren Bent shared he is thrilled for Celtic attacker Lewis Morgan as he’s closing in on a move to Inter Miami.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England international admitted joining David Beckham’s MLS club will provide an unbelievable opportunity for him.

Football Insider recently revealed that a deal is all but done to see Morgan exit the club and joined Inter Miami as the paperwork regarding the move has been submitted.

Bent pointed out that there have been many players who have struggled in England that have gone on to become absolute superstars in the MLS.

When asked about Morgan closing in a move to Inter Miami, Bent told Football Insider: “You know what from a lifestyle perspective, that’s an unbelievable opportunity for him and to have someone like David Beckham wanting to bring him to his club, that’s brilliant.

“If you’re not getting too much game time, what an opportunity it is.

“I’ve known guys who have gone out to America early, and you look at the wonders it’s done, for instance, think of Bradley Wright-Phillips.

“Struggled over here, went over there and made himself an absolute superstar in the MLS, look at someone like Lloyd Sam couldn’t make the grade over here, and has made himself a superstar over there.

“Look I know soccer isn’t the biggest sport over there, but living in Miami, playing in the MLS, you’re going to get a lot of eyes on you as it’s David Beckham’s franchise, so that’s a massive opportunity.”

Morgan has played 18 times across all competitions for the Hoops this season, scoring two goals and registering three assists.

The 23-year-old previously spent part of his 2018/19 campaign on loan at Sunderland and managed to feature 22 times for them.
