'Unbelievable' - Hutton hails Edens and Sawiris after what he's seen at Aston Villa training HQ

Alan Hutton has heralded Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris for splashing the cash on a new Aston Villa training centre.

The former Villa star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the “unbelievable” new complex would help take the Villans to the “next level”.

Villa announced the opening of the new high-tech facility on Tuesday.

Specialist football news outlet Training Ground Guru report the development cost £6million and follows on from the completion of a £14million academy base last summer.

The centre is said to include a state-of-the-art gym, running track and treatment rooms, with further facilities set to be completed later this year.

Hutton admitted he was blown away by the new-look training hub and credited the owners for “putting their money where their mouth is”.

Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge:I’ve seen the improvements, they’re absolutely amazing.

“I think if you want to compete with the best, you need to be the best also in terms of facilities and training ground. Bodymoor Heath was one of the top ones for years and years.

“Just when I was leaving it probably needed a little bit of renovation. Fair play to the owners, they have come in, no expense spared. I’ve seen some of the videos inside it and it’s unbelievable really. They’ve thought of everything to move to the next level.

“They’re putting their money where their mouth is. They’re spending to try and break into that top six. That’s where they’ll obviously be aiming. If they finish in the top 10, you want to progress from that. They’ll want to go and compete with these top teams.

“It’s absolutely fantastic, they’re heading in the right direction, that’s for sure. Fair play to them for spending the money because it wouldn’t have been cheap.”

Villa currently sit 10th in the table after 33 games.

Their final five fixtures sees them face Manchester United, Everton, Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

In other news, this is the real reason Aston Villa wonderkid desperate to quit amid interest from multiple European heavyweights.
