Alan Hutton has urged the Aston Villa hierarchy to bring Daniel Sturridge back to the Premier League from Turkey this January.
The former Scotland international, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, believes the ex-England international can bring a lot to Villa Park at a more than reasonable price.
It has been reported in Turkey that the Villans have tabled a £4.2million bid for the former Liverpool and Chelsea, the experienced hitman currently plying his trade for Trabzonspor.
Dean Smith is looking to bolster his attack following the announcement Wesley would miss the rest of the season, with Tanzanian Mbwana Samatta arriving earlier this month in an £8.5million deal from Genk.
When asked about the possibility of the 30-year-old joining his former club, Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he can be a good addition. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and scored goals at the highest level.
“He would be someone that could link up well with the front players at Villa because he has got great ability. It would be a great signing and for the amount of money that we are talking you would be getting an unbelievable player.
“Daniel is still a good age. He is not over the hill and is a proven goalscorer in the league so it would be a great addition if they could get him in.”
Sturridge has made 13 appearances for the Turkish Super Lig club this season, scoring seven goals.
He netted a total of 77 times in his 218 Premier League outings, while he has 26 caps and eight international goals under his belt too.
